In 2006, an Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science was established in the University of Hyderabad naming it in honour of the esteemed statistician, Padma Vibhushan Prof. C.R. Rao. He was awarded International Prize in Statistics which is equivalent to Nobel Prize.Statistics Olympiad was designed to foster statistical awareness and recognize emerging statistical talent, mirroring the renowned Mathematics Olympiad. In a groundbreaking move in 2009, CR Rao AIMSCS launched the world's inaugural Statistics Olympiad in India, an annual tradition that continues to this day. The primary objective of this endeavour is to emphasize the vital role of statistics and nurture a new generation of statisticians to contribute to the nation's advancement.
The Olympiad was conducted online for the first time, spanning four different days, and we were thrilled to see a highly enthusiastic participation across both levels.
Level 1 comprised students from classes VIII, IX, and X, while Level 2 included participants from classes XI, XII, and undergraduates.
