The Statistics Olympiad is a prestigious annual event conceived by Prof. C.R. Rao, FRS, and organized by the C.R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science (AIMSCS). Its primary aim is to emphasize the vital importance of statistics and to inspire and nurture young minds to pursue careers in this field, thereby contributing to national development. Notably, Prof. C.R. Rao has been honored with the International Prize in Statistics, often regarded as the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in the field.
Traditionally held in an offline format with descriptive questions, the 14th edition of the Olympiad in 2024, marked a significant shift by transitioning to an online mode featuring objective-type questions. This year also the examination is being conducted in online mode to support more students
Level 1 is open to students from classes VIII, IX, and X, while Level 2 includes participants from classes XI, XII, and undergraduate programs across all disciplines. We are delighted to see the remarkable enthusiasm and active participation from young statisticians across India and the SAARC countries.
